Lorro backs Woking for promotion

PAUL Lorraine quit Woking for AFC Wimbledon this week - then backed Graham Baker to get the Cards into the Blue Square Premier at the first attempt.

The 25-year-old no-nonsense centre-half rejoined AFC on Thursday after two seasons at Kingfield.

And he reckons Woking boss Baker and his assistant Jimmy Dack are the perfect double act to get them promoted from Blue Square South.

He said: "Graham's a great boss, and is the right man to get them out of that league.

"I played under Jimmy at Fisher. He's a larger-than-life character, who really gets the most out of players.

"The pair complement each other."

Lorro admits it was a tough decision to leave Woking, but says the lure of playing top-flight Conference football was too good to turn down.

"It was purely a footballing decision," he said.

"I've never been one to chase the money. But I feel at 25 it was the right thing to do for my career.

"It would've been a much harder decision if Woking had stayed up.

"I've had a great two years at the club, and will really miss the place.

"The fans were great to me, and always sang their hearts out."
