NEW chairman Shahid Azeem is certain money can't buy Woking a way back to the Blue Square Premier League.
Even though the players' budget has taken a £100,000 hit following Cards relegation in May, the self-made businessman won't be topping up the coffers.
Azeem took over from outgoing CEO David Taylor two weeks ago. Although the new man has a selection of Woking's wellheeled waiting to join him on the new board - merely splashing cash won't buy Cards a ticket to the good times, he says.
He said: "We've seen what happened at Woking when a small fortune was spent in recent years. That's not the way for us. By making better use of the facilities we have and getting local people back to the club, as well as building up a community feeling, we'll take the club forward."
However, Azeem admits the club is in a race against time to get the new board in place by start of the season on August 8.
He said: "It's taking longer than anticipated because there are tax implications for majority shareholder Chris Ingram. There's no animosity or anything like that. And Chris's sale of his shares and our plans are working parallel to each other." ..SUPL:
